Interview with Our $21K Giveaway Winner - Patrick Whalen, Canadian American Border Trade Alliance
Marie Rachelle, Social Media Manager at Show Ready, sat down with Patrick Whalen, President & CEO of the Canadian American Border Trade Alliance (Can/Am BTA) and winner of our $21K giveaway! Along with the Can/Am BTA, Patrick is the Director of the Niagara Global Tourism Institute.
The Canadian/American Border Trade Alliance (Can/Am BTA) is a broad based, grassroots organization comprised of businesses, private and public sector organizations, and individuals involved in Can/Am trade, border crossing, transportation, and tourism. Can/Am BTA hosts conferences and other associated Canada and U.S. border events that garner substantial participation from business leaders and high-level government decision-makers on both sides of the border.
With our world in a pandemic-state, Patrick saw the opportunity to work with Show Ready to continue hosting the Can/Am BTA’s events in a progressive manner. Typically hosting in-person events, in 2021, Can/Am BTA will work with Show Ready to bring their members together online and in person.

Marie Rachelle: What excites you about working with Show Ready in 2021?
Pat Whalen: Well, it’s been over a year since we’ve been able to host an in-person event for our members. We want to make a comeback in 2021 and know that we need to think bigger when it comes to organizing our events. We also are working with local college students who major in hospitality and event planning, so we’re looking forward to showing them there are thriving careers available in the industry.
Marie Rachelle: Definitely! It’s been a pleasure working with Show Ready and watching them continue to help clients and they were the first event production company doing live in-person events during the pandemic. They haven’t stopped. It’s great to work with a small business, especially woman-owned, that’s thrived during these challenging times. There are a lot of opportunities with events, maybe even more so now that we’ve been forced to think differently.
Pat Whalen: Seeing the work that Show Ready does across the country and the world is impressive, so I’m excited to see what they can do for the Can/Am BTA! We host events in Ottowa and D.C. so we know we’ll use the $21K we won in the giveaway, and most likely invest even more into creating a spectacular event for our members.
